LA – Create a Wireframe

Now it’s your turn to create your very own website wireframe.

In the last assignment, you had to come up with a list of 10 questions for a briefing form. I would like you to now fill in this briefing form, take the answers and create a wireframe for the site.

This wireframe do not have to be a wireframe for your current Mandatory Assignment (Product Website) it’s purely for you to practice your skills.

You can choose if you want it to be a lo-tech or hi-tech architecture.  Regardless of which method you choose, I would like to see as much detail as possible. Also, please write a short paragraph to explain why you chose the lo-tech or hi-tech option.

My ultimate list of 10 questions to ask clients before making them a website:

1. What kind of visitors are you expecting on your website? (Consider their income, interests, gender and age.)
Anyone who like bakery products. But maybe especially from 25 and up.

2 .Who are your competitors and how do you differ from them?
The competitors would be any other bakery.

3. What actions do you want visitors to take on the site?
I think the main actions would be opening hours, dress, maybe check out the different products and staff.

4. What is your deadline for completing the site? How big is the budget?
Deadline is two weeks, and the budget is a low budget.

5. What features should be used on your website? (This includes things like contact forms, pictures, videos, etc.)
Pictures, contact forms, text, link to facebook and or instagram, opening hours.

6. What do you like about your current website, or wish you had on a website?
The client have no current website, so this is a new project. They would like to have light colors, dark text and a visible logo, readability is also important to the client.

7. Do you have any colour preferences? What should the look and feel for the website be/NOT be?
Much the same as the previous question. Colors should be earth colors rather than pastel, and a bit rustic.

8. Should there be a forum or guestbook, where the content will be visible for anyone?
There can be a guestbook so that people can see the rating others hav given the bakery. This to show that they appreciate feedback, and is not afraid to show it, both good or bad.

9. What is most important to you when you visit a website?
That the colors match, and look delicate, that the text is spelled correct, that its easy and intuitive to navigate through, and that its not to much.

10. Why should your visitors come back to your website?
To see if there is any news, check opening hours,

I chose to make a Lo-tech wireframe. This because I think it is important to do sketching by hand, and I think its easier to do them by hand at first, before I start doing anything on the computer. I like to do it the old school way.

LA – Providing Your Own Hosting Service

For this LA we were to make our own hosting service. This LA was mandatory, because we are going to use the web site for the rest of the semester.

We could choose which hosting service we would like to use, but the school recommended one.com, so I went with that.

One of the things we had to consider well was the name of our site. I actually wanted to go for ehdesign, but both .com and .no was already in use. .org was available, but since there already was an .com and .no I decided to go for something else. I could have used it for my advantage, so that if people had typed the wrong address, they would have come to my page, but I wanted something for my own. Thats why I went with ehatveit.com. It does not say anything about it being a design web page, but it is versatile and I like it.

I tried to personalize the page, but ended up with a wordpress blog or something, nothing like the design i had made. I do not at all get this One.com thing, and find the design part of the it really hard. And I have no idea how to fix this problem. So I think and hope that things will only go up up up from here…
